Always on the look out for interesting places to eat we thought it would be fun to comment on the places we try. In our reviews we give our impressions of the food, atmosphere, and service so that others can either try them or avoid them all together.Carb Boyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11209988694085836890noreply@blogger.comBlogger19125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8042814916838688023.post-22781847254429885772008-05-26T18:33:00.021-04:002009-12-31T11:33:54.466-05:00Sq 1 BistroUPDATE: (12/31/09) - Fat Kat and I have been back to Sq 1 a couple of times recently and we have both been VERY impressed. Everything we have had has been excellent. So, even though I am not really maintaining this blog anymore, I felt I needed to update this review. They have added many small plates to their menu and I have had several of them. I just have the time to write these things, so that's why nearly all the reviews have my name on them! :)Anyway, the four of us had been looking forward to trying Stony Knob Cafe (www.stoneyknobcafe.com) for a few weeks. Church and 8th Avenue in Hendersonville, is a fairly recent addition to the Italian restaurant scene, opening last summer. Fat Kat and I have been there twice now and have conflicted views on it. It had potential to be the kind of restaurant we love - great food at reasonable prices with a casual, yet classy atmosphere. It delivered in some aspects and fell short on others. A bistro style restaurant with good food, fun atmosphere and reasonable prices. It seems in Hendersonville and Brevard (both towns closer to us), restaurants are either barely above fast food or upscale with a few exceptions, West First being most notable and is fantastic. I don't commit fully to either party, but am simply a fan of eating out. Therefore, Valentine's Day is as good as any for us to be "out and about" for a festive meal. The naysayers feel that because restaurants are packed to the gills on holidays (this one being no different) that its service and food may suffer from being pushed to Sweet Toothhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07174350431913434693noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8042814916838688023.post-2734457359875707552008-02-24T11:48:00.012-05:002008-04-20T12:00:12.623-04:00Flight Wood Grill and Wine BarFat Kat and I have lived here for going on four years now and we hadn't been to Flight (flightwoodgrill.com) in ages, so with coupon in hand, decided to give it another go. We had liked it in the past, but now with so many options in town, in Brevard, and of course, Asheville, it's just hard to get them all into the rotation more than once in a blue moon! Before a few other restaurants came to town, and before the original Sparacino's closed, it was our favorite restaurant. (11/5/08): Well, I am very, very happy to report that we went back to the Quarry and it was, indeed, light years better than our first experience! I have updated the fork rating considerably. While dining at an old favorite, Hob Nob (which we also love), we were eyeing a new neighbor, Maple (280 West Main St., Brevard, 828-883-4841). I always like when a restaurant uses its address as the name. One less thing I have to remember! It is located in the Biltmore Village and is easy to find, right on Hendersonville Road. We had missed our usual Friday "Date Night", so went up to Rezaz on a Saturday. It's a good, fun place to go for a great burger and great service. I was quite impressed at how well the staff stepped in to help each other out on a busy Friday night.
